The Men Who Stare At Goats – Trailer

| by Alex DiGiovanna | Trailers | Comments

Clooney, Spacey, Bridges, and McGregor…’nough said.

Clooney is part of “a legion of “Warrior Monks” with unparalleled psychic powers who can read the enemy’s thoughts, pass through solid walls, and even kill a goat simply by staring at it.” Ewan McGregor meets Clooney while on a mission to find his next big story. I know, intriguing isn’t it? Especially for the fact that they call themselves Jedi Warriors…I want that AWESOME.

Sorority Row – The Terrible Trailer

| by Alex DiGiovanna | Trailers | Comments

Every once in a while I find the need to vent about horrible movies. But sometimes it becomes an even stronger urge when the trailer for this horrible movie sucks the big one.  Well my friends, feast your eyes on this predictable and laughable trailer for this “horror” movie called Sorority Row.
To get an idea of what the movie is about you can read the synopsis below provided by Apple.com).
When five sorority girls inadvertently cause the murder of one of their sisters in a prank gone wrong, they agree to keep the matter to themselves and never Read more »

Shoot ‘Em Up Review

| by Alex DiGiovanna | Movie Reviews | Comments

If you’re “a pussy with a gun in your hand then don’t mess with Clive Owen in this all out, guns a blazing “Shoot ‘Em Up” action movie.  It delivers on every guy’s action movie requirement wish list on such an unrealistic level that it is hard not to enjoy it, kind of like Crank 2

Youth in Revolt Trailer

| by Alex DiGiovanna | Trailers | Comments

Don’t reject this movie immediately because it stars Michael Cera.  While the majority of us believe he can’t act, give this one a chance because by the end of the trailer I promise you that you’ll be laughing (that is, if you have a sense of humor of course).

We finally have an opportunity to see Cera stretch his acting abilities in Youth in Revolt when he creates his alter-ego in order to impress a girl.  The movie is Read more »

Seppuku (aka Harakiri): (Japan-1962)

| by Alex DiGiovanna | Movie Reviews | Comments

I had been looking forward to this movie for a while now and finally had the time to sit down and watch this film. I will say right now that I am a lover of samurai films! Although I don’t think I have watched a bad one yet, it could be due to my infatuation with their awesome swords (I’ve always wanted one) and the code that they live by, Bushido (call it a bias if you’d like).

Now, to the review! Overall, this movie was well told, well acted, and well shot. I will say the first 45 to 60 minutes were slow, the middle became more interesting, and the last 40 minutes were fantastic (yet deceptive at times as you were trying to figure out what was going on). Read more »

Inglorious Basterds Quickie Review

| by Alex DiGiovanna | Movie Reviews | Comments

Ok guys and girls listen up.  Since it’s late and I will be away from a computer until Sunday I will give you a quick and brief review of Tarantino’s new flick.

  1. Great acting, especially by Christoph Waltz
  2. The soundtrack was perfect for the tone of the movie
  3. A very good, cool movie that shows that Tarantino has evolved a lot since Reservoir Dogs
  4. Not as bloody as most people were anticipating – but don’t worry when there is blood it is artistic and beautiful (and filled with Nazi killing hate)
  5. This movie will remind you of an old western film, like The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, except  in Germany during WWII.  I believe this was a tribute to those great classics from what I have read and understand.

Definitely worth a see.

Rating: A majestic Nazi killing western…with a cool plot.

The Wolfman Trailer Debut

| by Brandon Kruter | Trailers | Comments

Well I have to admit I hadn’t heard of this movie until I found out it would be attached to Inglorious Bastards which opens Friday. Needless to say after watching the trailer and checking out the cast I am very excited for this movie. Unfortunately it looks like the release date has been pushed back quite a few times with the current one set for early 2010. It seems supernatural creature based movies are making a stronger return to movies than I thought as the recent wave of vampire movies suggests. Let me know if your as excited about this movie as I am.

The Inglorious Bastards (without Brad Pitt?)

| by Alex DiGiovanna | Movie Reviews | Comments

That’s right, I said it!  This is The Inglorious Bastards without the famous Brad Pitt.  It might be hard for some of you to fathom but this is actually another WWII movie about Americans and Nazis.  For those with a keen eye you probably noticed the spelling differences in the title.  Why you ask?  Because it’s a movie that has absolutely nothing to do with the one arriving in theaters on the 21st, I just figured that I would get you all ready for some Nazi killing with this 1978 similarly titled war flick.

District 9 Review

| by Alex DiGiovanna | Movie Reviews | Comments

After sitting in the theater for two hours I came to the realization that District 9 is one the best movies of 2009.  I have never seen a better debut for both an actor and a director, let alone in the same film.  Neil Blomkamp took an original story and made its big screen feature a visually stunning and fantastically shot film.  Filming it in a documentary style was the perfect way to capture this riveting story and make it feel real and believable to an audience who may or may not be fans of science fiction.  Sharlto Copley, playing the main character Wikus, did an outstanding job in his debut not only capturing Read more »
