There are not many things I know for certain, but whenever I am asked what my favorite movie is, I instantly say “Pulp Fiction.” Quentin Tarantino is in my opinion one of the most talented people in film. His films all vary in quality and direction, but all are some of the best ever made. Pulp Fiction stands out because of its profound impact on so many aspects of popular culture and the careers of several talented actors and actresses. Who knows how many films it influenced, but it is immediately obvious to anyone that Pulp Fiction will always shine like a precious stone.

But why? To me, the dialogue and characters were something so new and fresh, they could do nothing but frighten us with the creativity. Here are two hired killers, can you not relate to them so easily, talking about the curious ways that fast food and drugs move about society? Here’s an old fighter that knows that his profession burns your flame out, that no risk is too much to get out golden. They are people just like us talking quite frankly. Plus they have guns, plenty of guns and drugs and shady friends.

A normal Denny’s, Spires-like coffee shop in Los Angeles. It’s about 9:00 in the morning. While the place isn’t jammed, there’s a healthy number of people drinking coffee, munching on bacon and eating eggs. Two of these people are a YOUNG MAN and a YOUNG WOMAN. The YOUNG MAN has a slight working-class English accent and, like his fellow countryman, smokes cigarettes like they’re going out of style.

Those characters, you love, not like you had a choice. There’s that curious moment when Jules says “Let’s get into character,” and you see them shift from shooting the shit to doing their job, just like you.If you haven’t seen Pulp Fiction, you owe yourself to procure a copy in the next 24 hours. If you’ve ever only seen pieces of it, chain yourself to the chair for the full duration. There are longer cuts available that I suggest you try to see, because even the deleted scenes are amazing (if not rightfully cut for pacing). Pulp Fiction, along with Reservoir Dogs, is a movie best seen with a few like-minded friends. Even almost 15 years after the fact, it’s still a classic.

Rating: The kind of tough gangster talk about hamburgers and coffee that never fails to delight.
