Prepared to be “Focked,” Gaylord Style, in the New “Little Fockers” Trailer

| by Alex DiGiovanna | Trailers | View Comments

little fockers

That’s right everyone, our favorite focken family is back in the all new movie Little Fockers. DeNiro, Stiller, Streisand, Wilson, and Polo have returned for the third installment of the comedic “Meet The” trilogy and they brought some new friends with them, Jessica Alba and Harvey Keitel. While I am sad Dustin Hoffman did not return to reprise his role as Gaylord’s father, I’m sure Harvey will do a good job if he is the replacement. Well enough chatting, check out the trailer after the jump but be warned, having an erection lasting more than four hours will result in…hysterical laughing. Read more »

NYAFF 2010: The Storm Warriors Review (Hong Kong)

| by Alex DiGiovanna | Movie Reviews | View Comments

The Storm Warriors
Sunday I attended the US Premier of the special effects, CGI overloaded film The Storm Warriors at the New York Asian Film Festival. All I can really say about this movie is that it was loud, explosive, intense, and shall I dare say, Godly? The Chinese have managed to come up with an over the top movie that combines the visual styles of 300 with the fighting styles of Avatar: The Last Airbender. For those of you that don’t know anything about either of these movies just watch the trailers for both films by clicking on the film names. If your imagination can’t support those two concepts together then watch the trailer for The Storm Warriors, also embedded after the jump, before completing this review so you can understand exactly what I am talking about. If you are still intrigued then please read on because The Storm Warriors is a simple yet wild Chinese ride that will surely fulfill your crazy martial arts desires. Read more »

NYAFF 2010: Simon Yam Discusses ‘The Storm Warriors’

| by Alex DiGiovanna | Miscellaneous | View Comments

Simon Yam in The Storm Warriors
After watching the film The Storm Warriors, Simon Yam came on stage at the Walter Reade Theater at Lincoln Center to discuss the film, his role, and a little about his acting preferences. If you don’t know Simon Yam he is one of the most famous/hottest actors in the Chinese film industry right now and is known for his roles in films like Echoes of the Rainbow (he won best actor for this), Ip Man, and Night and Fog. If you don’t know him and you like Asian films then get to know him by watching his films and checking out this discussion. If you do know him I bet you didn’t know he was a funny presenter. Check out Simon Yam discuss The Storm Warrios after the jump. Read more »

The Kids Are All Right Early Movie Review

| by Alex DiGiovanna | Movie Reviews | View Comments

the kids are all right movie
I recently attended a press screening for The Kids Are All Right and thought the movie was ‘All Right.’ No I’m just kidding, it was actually pretty good for the most part. The movie stars Julianne Moore, Annette Bening, Mark Ruffalo, Mia Wasikowska, Josh Hutcherson and is directed by Lisa Cholodenko. In case you don’t know, the movie is about these two kids who were brought to life through artificial insemination, aka have lesbian parents, and decide to contact their sperm donor and bring him into their family life. Sounds wacky, I know, but you if it even remotely peaks your interest then check out more of my thoughts, my video review, and the official synopsis of the movie after the jump. Read more »

To prepare for the launching of the NYAFF today I thought I would post a review for Bodyguards and Assassins which will be screened on Sunday with an introduction by Simon Yan. This movie is an exciting ride that I would recommend to all martial art movie lovers. I will be attending this screening because I want to see the documentary after and also want to meet Simon Yam even if I have seen it it, why not watch it again, right? I’m also in a crazy Donnie Yen phase right now. Check out the review after the jump. Read more »

‘Easy A’ Early Movie Review

| by Alex DiGiovanna | Movie Reviews, Trailers | View Comments

Easy A movie
Last week I had the rare opportunity to attend a screening so far in advance that the film had actually not been completed yet. That’s right, it wasn’t the final print which was pretty neat. The other cool part was that Emma Stone was in attendence to introduce the movie to the audience and do a quick Q and A. The film she introduced was the teen comedy entitled Easy A and, to my surprise, actually wasn’t half bad. You can check out my mostly positive video review for Easy A after the jump. Read more »
