With a release set for April 22nd, The Weinstein Company have waited quite a while to release any information on their upcoming space horror film, Apollo 18, a film about the “real” reason why a human has never returned to the moon. SlashFilm put it right when they said that the trailer comes off as a cross between Paranormal Activity and Aliens, which ultimately means that it’s dark, eerie, quiet, and suspenseful. To find out what I mean hit the jump to check out more details including the synopsis and trailer, and then feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments section.

Apollo 18 is directed by Gonzalo López-Gallego, a Spanish award winning director, who is making his English language debut with this film. It was produced by Bob Weinstein and Timur Bekmambetov, the director behind Wanted, Night Watch, & Day Watch

Officially, Apollo 17, launched December 17th, 1972 was the last manned mission to the moon. But a year later, in December of 1973, two American astronauts were sent on a secret mission to the moon funded by the US Department of Defense. What you are about to see is the actual footage which the astronauts captured on that mission. While NASA denies its authenticity, others say it’s the real reason we’ve never gone back to the moon.
