This week we have already seen teasers of Super Bowl trailers for both The Avengers and John Carter, which will air their full trailers during the Super Bowl this Sunday. Today we have a bit of a treat and instead of teasers, we have the actual trailers that will play during the big game for The Dictator and G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Check them both out below

First up is The Dictator, which stars Sacha Baron Cohen. The film looks to be much like his other film Borat only with a bit more story behind it.  They’ve also launched an official site for the Republic of Wadiya so be sure to check it out for the full story behind this dictator and his country.

 The heroic story of a dictator who risks his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed.

The Dictator hits theaters May 11, 2012

Next up we have Jon Chu‘s G.I. Joe: Retaliation. We mentioned before when the first trailer came out for this film that it has massive potential and should be so much better then the first film. The trailer for the Super Bowl holds up for the film and has some great action sequences, I just think the Jay-Z reference is a bit cheesy. Check it out and decide if you feel the same.

All the questions asked during the Q&A were submitted by fans via twitter so as I expected, there were very few well thought out questions and they didn’t help us learn much. However, there were a few that did shed a little light on a few rumors and were a bit comedic. I have posted the most interesting ones below, sadly none of my questions were answered. Here we go

• [SPOILERISH]Joss was asked about the rumored Spider-Man cameo that has recently surfaced, his response ” There is no Spider-Man Cameo, but The Avengers do turn off the dark” [END SPOILERISH]
• Samuel Jackson was asked who his first favorite superhero was and shockingly it was DC Comics very own The Flash.
• An interesting question was asked to Joss about whether or not one would need to see the prior Marvel films to understand what’s going on in The Avengers, his response, “You don’t need to see any  Marvel movies to enjoy The Avengers, but you need to see Steel Magnolia, like six times”
• It took Tom about forty-five minutes to an hour each day to get into the Loki costume
• When asked if Loki was looking for revenge in the film Tom Hiddleston  had the following response, “He doesn’t want revenge so much as identity, belonging, purpose,  self-esteem, through delusional dreams”

Later today we will get a 10 second preview of The Avengers thanks to their live twitter session, but currently we have the John Carter sneak peek along with a pretty cool contest the film is putting on.

If you noticed at the end, the mention of “The Journey to the Super Bowl Sweepstakes” and a website. During the airing of the 30-second spot, a code will be revealed. Viewers can then go to NFL.com/JohnCarter and input the code to be entered in the sweepstakes.

But what can one potentially win by entering this code? The Grand Prize is a trip for two to Super Bowl XLVII on February 3, 2013 in New Orleans, La. The trip includes a 5-day/4-night trip for the winner and guest to attend the game, two tickets to Super Bowl XLVII and access to Game Day hospitality at the stadium.

John Carter is a sweeping action-adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars) and  is based on a classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, whose highly imaginative adventures served as inspiration for many filmmakers, both past and present. Check out the red band trailer below and prepare for your mind to be blown as stars Joel Murray and Tara Lynne Barr declare that they’ve had enough with people’s stupid shit.  Enjoy.

Loveless, jobless and possibly terminally ill, Frank has had enough of  the downward spiral of America. With nothing left to lose, Frank takes  his gun and decides to off the stupidest, cruelest and most repellent  members of society with an unusual accomplice: 16-year-old Roxy, who  shares his sense of rage and disenfranchisement. From stand-up comedian  and director Bobcat Goldthwait comes a scathing and hilarious attack on  all that is sacred in the United States of America.

Starring Jason Segel as Jeff, Ed Helms, Judy Greer and Susan Sarandon, the the trailer for this feature looks to be very promising and if you’re a fan of Cyrus you’ll notice the similar humor with added bonus of Jason Segal being in the element where he succeeds the most, as a guy who has lost all direction in his life (see Forgetting Sarah Marshall to understand).

“On his way to the store to buy wood glue, Jeff looks for signs from the universe to determine his path. However, a series of comedic and unexpected events leads him to cross paths with his family in the strangest of locations and circumstances. Jeff just may find the meaning of his life… and if he’s lucky, pick up the wood glue as well.”

However, after viewing this trailer I take everything bad I said about Red Sword back.  Despite sharing the same lead actress Asami and samurai sword ass kicking, Lust of the Dead is not only in much worse taste but its production values are simply awful.  The terrible digital nuclear explosion in the opening moments is just the start… it’s all downhill from there.

The film also features Alice Ozawa, Yuria Hidaka, Riri Kouda, and Saya Kobayashi, who seem to be better known for films that don’t involve much dialogue (if you get what I’m saying).  They join Asami in fighting off the lustful zombies.  The movie is going direct to DVD in March in Japan (big surprise?).

I’m actually very happy that this trailer isn’t translated, because from the looks on the faces of these characters I really don’t want to know what they’re saying.  But again, definitely NSFW:

Annie begins searching through her mother’s belongings for clues to their past life when, happening upon a picture of an unknown young woman standing beside her mother, she starts to sense an unusual presence in the house. Experiencing a series of intense and disturbing dreams, Annie begins to question the life she thought she knew as the world around her evolves into a living nightmare…

I want to give a brief warning though and I will get into this after the trailer, but the opening sequence is not a commercial it is actually part of the trailer. You will see what I mean

If you ignore the massive product placement/advertisement by Sony, the trailer looks very promising. Being a fan of this series, I really have a lot of hope for this film and that it might actually have a chance to be the best one in the series. I know some will say “ well that’s not very hard to do“, but Retribution seems to have the action fans have been looking for and a solid story line. Maybe this time we will actually learn something about Alice and the whole Umbrella Corp, maybe an end is near for the series. Plus, it looks like there are more people alive in this one, which could be a good/bad thing.

Now more on the horrible Sony commercial.  I understand that movies get a portion of their funding by product placement. We see it all the time and most of the time we just laugh at it and shrug it off. However after watching this trailer I feel that Sony might have crossed the line. If I didn’t know any better I would have thought that there was no trailer and instead I was tricked into watching a Sony commercial for their different gadgets. I get they were trying to be funny and pull an old bait and switch on us but still, Sony for shame. Oh and Paul W.S. Anderson don’t think you don’t get some of this blame as well, you directed the film so you are just as much at fault as Sony.

Resident Evil: Retribution hits theaters September 14. The film stars Milla Jovovich, Sienna Guillory, Shawn Roberts, Oded Fehr, Michelle Rodriguez, Colin Salmon, Boris Kodjoe Johann Urb, Li Bingbing, and Kevin Durand, Oh yeah and a long list of Sony products!

I saw the film nearly a year ago at a test screening and was floored by how good it was (though the final cut could be very different).  It also knocked all the positive life out of me and gave me almost no hope for the future, but either way it was a quality flick nontheless.

Besides having a qualified director at the helm, the movie has a star studded cast featuring Adrien Brody, Marcia Gay Harden, Christina Hendricks, William Petersen, Bryan Cranston, Tim Blake Nelson, Lucy Liu, Blythe Danner, James Caan, and newcomers Sami Gayle and Betty Kaye

Like the trailer suggests, this film is Adrien Brody’s finest performance since The Pianist so trust me when I say this is good.  Check out the trailer and synopsis below and be sure to share your thought in the comments section.

The movie stars Hae-il Park (The Host), Moon Chae-Won and Ryoo Seung-Ryong in this exciting chase film about a brother on a mission to save his sister for intruding Manchurian troops.

Set in 1636, the second Manchurian invasion of Korea rages chaos, as villages are attacked by overpowering Manchurian soldiers. The Manchurians kidnap childhood sweethearts, Ja-in and Seo-Goon on their wedding day. In an effort to save his sister, Ja-in’s brother Nam-Yi sets out to defeat the enemy and save his sister and other Korean victims with only 1 bow.

For those of you that are interested in the home entertainment release.  Well Go USA is releasing both a regular DVD and a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack.  The special features include actor and director interviews, The Making of War of the Arrows” Featurette, deleted scenes, and the theatrical trailers.
