Kevin Smith 300x200 Westboro Baptist Church plans to Protest Kevin Smiths Red StateAh yes Westboro Baptist Church, my favorite people to hate and despise in this world are at it again.  Shockingly they didn’t make an appearance at this years San Diego Comic Con (which they have in the past) and it’s probably because they were planning their next protest against one of the most likable people on the planet, Kevin Smith.

I am a huge Kevin Smith fan and I don’t know why or how anyone could hate the man or talk bad about him, but leave it to Westoboro to prove me wrong. TMZ ran a story this weekend about WBC planning to protest Kevin Smith’s newest film Red State. The film is about a cult like church whose members kill “sinners”. It has been speculated that Kevin Smith did base the film loosely on WBC but it hasn’t been validated.

In case you don’t know who WBC is, they are the people who like to protest soldiers funerals, any event where people are a little different, and national events. When asked why the church was protesting the film, the church spokesperson said the following, “God hates fags, God hates fag enablers, therefore God hates Kevin Smith.” Hmm not really sure that is very christian like but OK. They go on to call Smith a “God-hating clown.”

TMZ caught up with Smith and asked him how he felt about the churches comments about him and their promise to disrupt the  films release . Smith who is unfazed by any of their comments had the following to say:

Well Jesus told ME he loved ‘Red State.’  He said it makes up for ‘Cop Out.’  He also said neither He nor His Heavenly Father have any affiliation with the Westboro Baptist Church.

Witty and civil, good job Kevin! But the best part came at the end of the interview when he had the following message for the members of the radical WBC and the rest of the world.

‘Red State’ is available now on VOD.
