About a year and a half ago one of the greatest shows on Fox, 24, ended after 8 seasons. Before fans even knew the show was ending there were rumors flying around about a possible movie in the works. After the show ended these speculations grew and grew thanks to Kiefer Sutherland publicly admitting that they were working on a script and a way to condense a seasons worth of entertainment into a movie.
We have heard of rumored start dates, rejected scripts and release date, but none of that information was very legit. Luckily for us, Mr. Sutherland has once again answered the question we have been waiting for. Is the script done?
Sutherland spoke with The Telegraph when he released this information regarding the film and the script:
We are coming very close to having a finished script. That’s been the most difficult thing. You have to remember that we have 24 hours to explain the stories in 24 and so trying to condense that into a two-hour film version has been a real shift in gear for us. We were originally trying to make it too big and put too much into it – but once we relaxed, we found out how to tell that story. So yes we definitely do plan on making the film.
What does this mean exactly, one might be asking? Originally Sutherland said they planned to start shooting by the end of 2011 with a 2012 release date. Since the script still isn’t done, this is very unlikely to happen. Also Sutherland is set to star in a new TV series called Touch which is still currently shooting. Once he is done with the show he will be able to become Jack Bauer once again and start work on the 24 film. So realistically we are looking at a release date of 2013.
