Law & Order: Criminal Intent actor Eric Bogosian wrote a novel called Mallback in 2001 and it is currently being adapted for the big screen. The movie will star Bogosian, his L&O co-star Vincent D’Onofrio, and late-night Chelsea Lately comedienne / author Chelsea Handler(one of my personal heroes!). In addition, this will mark the directorial debut of Linkin Park’s beat maker Joe Hahn, as per Deadline.
D’Onofrio’s involvement extends as producer “with partner Erika Hampson and The Collective’s Sam Maydew,” as well as screenwriter with “Joe Vinciguerra and Sam Bisbee. ”
Apparently, “The film follows the intersecting paths of five disaffected suburbanites: a stoner teen, a restless housewife (a dark role to be played by Handler), a voyeuristic businessman (D’Onofrio), a mall security guard and a trigger-happy crystal meth addict who heads to the mall looking for trouble. Bogosian will play a store owner.”
D’onofrio said in a statement that, “This film will be a comment on social violence… It begins as a man walks through the front door of a suburban mall armed to the teeth, causing five strangers to embark on a night that will change them forever. As the bullets fly, one teenage boy hurtles through the night on a collision course with the man he will become.”
At this time, there are no other details, but it sounds like this could be one hell of a movie. The combination of actors and behind-the-scenes brains set against a thrilling plot line could make for a memorable movie. Have you read Bogosian’s novel? Is this a movie that you’d see?
