Gotta love alien invasion flicks, especially when a film is described as Black Hawk Down meets an alien invasion. Battle: Los Angeles, the latest in a string of LA invasion films, stars Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez and Bridget Moynahan with Jonathan Liebesman (The Killing Room) in the director’s char.
Although the teaser doesn’t tell you this exactly, the film follows a military platoon as they try to fight off an incoming alien attack. Not only is there a lot of impressive footage in this teaser but it’s the various perspectives and the effects that really capture my attention. You have the opportunity to witness battles via night vision first person shots, gritty news channel perspectives, third person views and more which makes me feel like they are trying to give you the full invasion experience rather than limiting us to an individual perspective. Even with a lot of cool footage being shown in a teaser, I can only imagine that the battle sequences are going to be out of this world coupled with, what will hopefully be, some very impressive sound work. Official Synopsis
When unknown forces suddenly and mercilessly attack the City of Angels out of nowhere, it’s up to a local Marine staff sergeant (Aaron Eckhart) and a new platoon of unseasoned soldiers to meet the threat. As the invasion hits the streets of LA, these Marines become our first and last line of defense in an intense battle against an enemy unlike any they’ve ever encountered before.
Now without further ado, I present to you the Battle: Los Angeles Teaser Trailer.
One thing I hope you noticed in the trailer is that the spaceships have a completely different vibe then what we are used to seeing. In my opinion, the best way to describe them is if you took the Wookie race from Star Wars (Chewbacca’s race) and had them build intergalactic battleships the result would be the alien ships featured in Battle: Los Angeles.
Battle: Los Angeles hits theaters on March 11, 2011
