Don’t reject this movie immediately because it stars Michael Cera. While the majority of us believe he can’t act, give this one a chance because by the end of the trailer I promise you that you’ll be laughing (that is, if you have a sense of humor of course).
We finally have an opportunity to see Cera stretch his acting abilities in Youth in Revolt when he creates his alter-ego in order to impress a girl. The movie is the irreverent story about the wild adventures of a teenage boy named Nick Twisp who meets the girl of his dreams while on a family vacation and has to turn his life and the lives of all those around him upside down in order to be with her. The movie is directed by an relatively unknown movie director named Miguel Arteta who is known for random directorial appearances on TV shows such as Ugly Betty and The Office. Other Cast members include the funnyman Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover), Justin Long (Accepted), Steve Buscemi (Big Fish), and Fred Willard( (Wall-E). While I thoroughly enjoy the trailer and the csat that’s involved I still think that this movie will be hit or miss. I say this for the fact that Cera is known for playing the same character and so if he can actually pull this alter-ego off like he did in the trailer I believe he will have a hit on his hands. I’m praying that they didn’t show a majority of the comedic parts in the trailer.
I would rate this as a surprising pleasant trailer that just may have a shot at the box office.
