Over the past year, slasher films have really grown on me. I’ve come to appreciate the craziness associated with them, normally becasue I really like the comedic aspects that are infused into the horrific story that’s normally being shown to me. Well now that I’m in the post-pubescent stage, I think it’s safe for me to move onto films that lack that comedic aspect and focus just on the horror itself.
A while back I received a message about a film called Dead Hooker in a Trunk and, at the time, I really wasn’t feeling the trailer so I decided not to report on it. I still managed to follow the film through other people on twitter and saw that they recently got a distributor. The only reason I knew this indie horror had made it is because I stumbled upon another bloody flick that’s looking to make it big, the film is called Hunters. So now that I’m in the game of horror I thought I would do my civic duty and post the trailer for your viewing enjoyment.
After watching the trailer for director Judson Scott’s film-to-be, my initial reaction was (in slow-speaking-motion) “WWHHAAATTT??!!!” I had no idea what was going on in the first minute of the video, it looked like a scene out of the Israel slasher flick Rabies that I had watched a few months back, and then in the last 30 seconds or so my jaw dropped and I thought to myself, “oh shit.” To see what I mean watch the trailer below.
If you are a fan of the horror genre then you need to get the word out about this film so these guys can get the money to make it into a full length feature. I think there is a lot of potential there and if there is one indie genre that deserves money it’s the horror genre, we need fresh blood injected into this category of filmmaking!
Synopsis: Abandoned in the woods, and forced to raise themselves, Oscar and Audrey realized early on in life that hunting was the only way to survive. Now grown up, they’ve mastered the craft, and when a large group of campers come crashing in on their land, the siblings see a welcome opportunity to stack up the bodies. But when Audrey discovers one of the campers is tied to her and Oscar’s past, things get a little crazy.
