William Monahan — who won an Oscar for his script for The Departed and has found himself in the middle of a mini-controversy as the writer of the remake of The Gambler — has joined another high profile project, the long-anticipated Sin City sequel. According to The Hollywood Reporter, comic creator Frank Miller has finished a draft of the screenplay and once the script is “complete” — which is presumably where Monahan comes in — the film will be ready to shoot. Monahan seems like he’ll be a great fit, although hopefully like the first film Sin City 2 won’t stray far from its source material since that is what made the first film so awesome in the first place.
At Comic-Con, Rodriguez revealed that Sin City 2 would consist of the A Dame To Kill For graphic novel along with an original story written by Frank Miller, The Long, Bad Night. There’s no word on casting, but several Sin City regulars like Marv, Dwight, and Nancy (portrayed by Mickey Rourke, Clive Owen, and Jessica Alba in the first film) are featured in A Dame To Kill For.
