Takeshi Miike (Ichi, 13 Assassins) is known for being a wild director when it comes to some of his films. He makes movies the way he wants to and that is that, with many turning out to be very good. Despite his quality, I don’t think the guy has ever had one of his films remade in Hollywood, but it seems like that is about to change.
A few days ago The Hollywood Reporter reported that a major Hollywood production company was interested in remaking his latest family film, Ninja Kids!!!. The live-action film, which is based off of a long-running manga and anime series called Nintama Rantarou, has been making its way around the festival circuit over the past few months. I had seen the film at the NY Asian Film Festival, where it premiered, and absolutely loved it.
