After all the hype, the countless articles about casting and photos, the trailer for Simon Curtis‘ major motion picture directorial debut, My Week with Marilyn, has finally been released! Starring Michelle Williams as the legendary sex symbol, the preview of the film shows the many sides of the very underestimated comedienne during the tumultuous filming of The Prince & the Showgirl in England.
Of course I’m even more so crazy about Williams in the part, but the trailer shows some great chemistry between Monroe and Eddie Redmayne’s character, Colin Clark, through whose diary during the week the movie is told.
Not too long ago, I posted a little something on The Prince & the Showgirl, which Monroe starred opposite Sir Laurence Olivier, who also directed the film in London. It was very interesting to see how their chemistry, or lack thereof in my opinion, translated on the big screen when there were so many rampant rumors running around at the time about Monroe’s behavior. Not to mention, Olivier (who is played by Kenneth Branagh in My Week with Marilyn) was joined during filming with then-wife Vivien Leigh (Julia Ormond), and Monroe’s third husband, playwright Arthur Miller (Dougray Scott). Powerhouse Judi Dench and Harry Potter alum Emma Watson take on supporting roles in the upcoming film as well.
To see these famous and accomplished faces portraying such prominent movie stars of a forgotten era is nothing short of magic. And, we’re talking about Marilyn freakin’ Monroe! Not since HBO’s TV-movie Norma Jean & Marilyn (starring by the stunning duo Ashley Judd and Mira Sorvino) back in 1996 have there been any worthy depictions of the troubled actresses’ life who had such a great impact on the world of movies, fashion, and general pop culture.
Courtesy of Daily Mail, we’ve also discovered two new photos of the two-time Oscar nominee decked out in Monroe’s trademark platinum blonde curls and bombshell style!

Give the trailer below a watch and tell us what you think! Do you think Williams is headed for another Oscar nod? Are you going to see this movie when it comes out on November 4th?
