I’ve had my eye on any upcoming news about This Means War, a spy comedy starring Tom Hardy (Inception) and Chris Pine (Star Trek) who play CIA agents dating the same girl, Lauren, played by Reese Witherspoon (Water for Elephants). The trailer is all over the web and Movie Buzzers has a first look at the action romance directed by McG.
The movie also stars host of E!’s Chelsea Lately and New York Times best-selling author, Chelsea Handler (my favorite female comedienne, by the way!), Til Schweiger (Inglorious Basterds), Abigail Spencer (Cowboys & Aliens), and Angela Bassett (Green Lantern). The laughs and action seen in the trailer come from screenwriter Timothy Dowling (Role Models), Simon Kinberg (Sherlock Holmes).
The 20th Century Fox film won’t be in theaters until February 17th 2013, but when you put two rising male leads like Hardy and Pine together in an action / romance / comedy with Witherspoon, America’s sweetheart, there’s certainly a lot to talk about. However, there is no official movie poster, but we do have some stills from the movie, showing off Lauren’s spy-ready wardrobe and he antics between the special agent co-workers.
Hardy can be seen in next in the highly anticipated The Dark Knight Rises. Pine is in pre-production for next year’s long-awaited Star Trek sequel. Witherspoon is currently filming the drama, Mud, opposite Matthew McConaughey and Michael Shannon. Also, Handler has a part in the Halloween-themed comedy Fun Size.
Take a look and tell us what you think! Is this a comedy that you’d want to see? Do you think Pine and Hardy make a good rivaling duo on screen? Are you excited to see Handler continue her leap to the big screen after Hop?
