Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle is one of my top 10 favorite comedies of all time. The second film Harold & Kumar: Escape from Guantanamo Bay, not so much. I could have done without the film because it felt like they tried too hard and I figured the series was over until word got out about A Very Harold & Kumar’s 3D Christmas. If there was any series I would never expected to do a Christmas movie it would have been this one, but man am I glad they did!
The Red Band trailer for the film was released yesterday and I will warn you that it is very NSFW so I don’t recommend you pulling it up during your lunch break. It has the classic stuff one would expect from this film but throw in toddlers getting stoned and some sexy time claymations and you have yourself a pretty damn good film (at least in my opinion) not to mention NPH (Neil Patrick Harris) looks like he might steal the show once again in this one.
If you are wondering, what exactly will this movie be about, here you go:
After years of growing apart, Harold Lee and Kumar Patel have replaced each other with new friends and are preparing for their respective Yuletide celebrations. But when a mysterious package mistakenly arrives at Kumar’s door on Christmas Eve, his attempt to redirect it to Harold’s house ends with the “high grade” contents — and Harold’s father-in-law’s prize Christmas tree — going up in smoke. With his in-laws out of the house for the day, Harold decides to cover his tracks, rather than come clean. Reluctantly embarking on another ill-advised journey with Kumar through New York City, their search for the perfect replacement tree takes them through party heaven — and almost blows Christmas Eve sky high.
John Cho, Kal Penn and of course Neil Patrick Harris are all returning for the third film. Also appearing in the film are Patton Oswalt, Thomas Lennon, Danny Trejo, Eddie Kaye Thomas, David Krumholtz, and Elias Koteas. The original creators of the Harold & Kumar films Jon Hurwitz & Hayden Schlossberg wrote the script for the Christmas special with Todd Strauss-Schulson directing.
