If there is one thing the Asian film industry does well it’s that they know how to turn their women into badass fighting machines. And it isn’t just the two or three same stars over again (Jolie, Jovovich, Beckinsale), they have numerous women stepping up to do battle.
From the team that brought us High Kick Girl comes a new Karate movie about a young Japanese girl who uses her martial arts talents to reunite her only living family members. After the jump you will find the synopsis along with the trailer for Japan’s newest movie, KG: Karate Girl.
KG is directed by Yoshikatsu Kimura and stars Rina Takeda (star of High Kick Girl), Hina Tobimatsu and Tatsuya Naka. The movie looks likes your average martial arts movie with a bit of drama woven into it. But check it out yourself and let us know what you think in the comments section below.
Ayaka (Rina Takeda) and Natsuki Kurenai (Hina Tobimatsu) are sisters and the youngest descendants of a legendary Okinawan karate master named Shoujirou Kurenai. As children, they live a happy life with their father (Tatsuya Naka) who teaches them karate. One day, a mysterious group kills their father, kidnaps Natsuki, and steals the black belt which has been passed down in their family for over 200 years.
Years later, Ayaka has moved to Yokohama to live the life of an ordinary teenager. Meanwhile, Natsuki’s captors have turned her into a killing machine. Eventually, they discover Ayaka’s whereabouts and pit sister against sister. With the teachings of her father still in her heart, Ayaka must do whatever it takes to save her sister and get revenge against the group that tore their family apart.
KG hits Japanese theaters on February 5, 2011. No US release has been set yet.
