I really enjoyed Takeshi Kitano’s wild Yakuza film, Outrage, as it was beautifully shot and had a very Godfather feel to it despite not reaching the same heights as the famed mafia feature (You can read my review HERE). The reason I mention that is because Magnolia Home Entertainment will be releasing the gangster thriller on Blu-ray and DVD on January 31st, 2012.
What is really cool about this release is that yours truly has been quoted in a press release for the first time in his movie reviewing career…twice! What’s stupid about the release is that the subtitle “Way of the Yakuza” was added to it, makes the film sound a little cheesier now, don’t it?
See below for my quotes and all the details associated with the release of Outrage: Way of the Yakuza on both Blu-ray and DVD.
“A beautifully staged marvel that confidently reasserts Kitano’sconsiderable cinematic gifts.” – Variety
“Kitano’s pristine direction and smooth camera movement always juxtapose the unsettling action with a beautifully crisp formalism that makes the film increasingly disturbing.” – Slant
“A must see for Japanese cinephiles.” – Movie Buzzers
“Takeshi Kitano returns to his roots.” – Los Angeles DailyNews
