Rumored since the end of last year, it seems that we’re a few crossing of t’s and dotting of i’s away from Steven Spielberg directing God and Kings. Deadline is reporting that Spielberg is likely a lock to direct the Biblical epic for Warner Bros.
However, the articles goes a long way to distance the movie from the previous Moses films, like both versions of Cecile B. DeMille‘s The Ten Commandments, by describing the new movie as a “warrior” movie like Braveheart with the “gritty reality of Saving Private Ryan.” Huh, I remember one battle in the Moses story, but it’s not exactly a main focus or anything… let’s not have Sam Worthington play Moses or anything, guys.
Spielberg has Lincoln and Robocalypse next on his plate, so we won’t see Gods and Kings anytime soon — production is set to start in March/April 2013. The article also points out that despite the movie’s epic nature, it will NOT be in 3D, so don’t worry about the wrath of God popping out at you.
