Could it be? A film about Brett Broski, the ultimate guido chronicles pre Jersey Shore? Well my friends, I would not lie to you when, as of this morning, the movie right to “The My New Haircut” movie were aquired by none other than SCOTT MEDNICK.
Now, I am not one to doubt Mednick’s ability and maybe he sees something that I don’t, but this is going to be a stretch and I’m curious to see if it is one extremely long jersey shore episode or a true Guido adventure. Keep in mind this is the guy that brought us Where the Wild Things Are and 300.
Mednick bought the screen rights from the creator Brett Tietjen, who happened to be the main star, Mr. Broski. Along with this was the purchase of an original script written by Tietjen and Ryan McMullen.
Here is a quote from the Variety article:
“Mednick credits the viral video with fueling the fascination with the New Jersey lifestyle, as chronicled on the MTV reality skein “Jersey Shore.”
“I truly believe that in this day and age, the convergence of viral concepts blended with the ability to tell stories on the big screen is a key part of creating new franchises,” said Mednick, who is producing alongside Galen Walker (“TMNT”) and Maria Norman (“Public Enemies”). ”
This is something that doesn’t seem to completely align with Mednick’s typical work with Legendary pictures but I think we can expect some fun things to come if this actually hits the big screen. He is definitely going to capitalize on the current Jersey Shore fad.
