This week I have a lot of new goodies for you all. Many anticipated trailers have been released as well as some that may not have been top of mind but sure will be. Check them out after the jump
To start off this week in trailers I thought I would go with the winner of the Sundance Film Festival, Animal Kingdom. The movie stars Guy Pierce, Joel Edgerton, , and Ben Mendelsohn. The movie tells the story of seventeen year-old J (Josh) as he navigates his survival amongst an explosive criminal family and the detective who thinks he can save him. The trailer looks terrific and I’m really excited for the opportunity to see this Sundance winning Australian film.
Next on the list is Scott Pilgram vs. The World. The movie is about a teenager who must defeat his new girlfriend’s seven evil ex-boyfriends in order to win her heart. It is also based off a comic book. It stars Micael Cera, who I normally don’t like because he plays the same role eof how much he is type casted but, he actually looks like he is doing a goodjob in this trailer. He may break out of his shell a bit here which makes me even more excited to see this on the big screen. It also stars Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick (Up in the Air), and Brandon Routh (Superman Returns). The movie is directed Edgar Wright, the man who brought us Hott Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead. There have been a lot of test screenings so far and they have all come out very positive so definitely keep an eye out for this movie in the future. Check out the sweet trailer below.
Next up is one of my favorites, Ong Bak 3. After just watching Ong Bak again, I am fired up for more Tony Jaa awesomeness and crazy fight scenes. This is the final installment in the trilogy so I hope he steps up and goes big for this finale. The movie has no set US release date at the moment but we will probably see it by the end of this year or early next year most likely be picked up by Magnolia.
Here is the official plot synopsis: After Tien (Tony Jaa) has lost his fighting skills and his beloved stepfather at the Garuda’s Wing cliff from the raid led by Jom Rachan (Saranyu Wonggrajang). Tien is brought back to life with the help from Pim (Primrata Dechudom) as well as Mhen (Petchai Wongkamlao) and the Kana Khone villagers. Deep into the meditation taught by Phra Bua (Nirutti Sirijanya), Tien finally is able to achieve ‘Nathayut’. His talents are put to the test again when his rivals including the Golden-Armored King’s Guard (Supakorn ‘Tok’ Kijusuwan), the mysterious killers in black, and Bhuti Sangkha (Dan Chupong) return for the final massive showdown.
Finally, the last trailer for this week is for the movie Despicable Me. This is the third trailer I have seen for this movie and the first one anyone understands. The plot is finally revealed after the other trailers just gave us a glimpse into the animation. I’m not sure how I feel about this movie yet, I think there may be potential but I won’t be rushing out to see it without some positive reviews and the 3-D is solid. The movie is voiced by many big names including Steve Carrell, Jason Segel, Will Arnett, Julie Andrews, and Ken Jeong. Check out the trailer below and tell me what you think.
