There have been talks for a while now about doing a reboot on the very popular National Lampoon Vacation series that originally stared Chevy Chase as Clark Griswald. While I don’t think I would consider this a reboot, which I will explain below, the film now has a duo of directors to guide it to the promise lands.
The Hollywood Reporter stated that John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, the screenwriters of the hilarious film Horrible Bosses, will make their directorial debut with their new telling of Vacation.
So what exactly do we know about this film? Will it be a reboot or another part of the story?
Here is what the supposed plot is for the film
The new movie will focus on Rusty Griswold, now a grown man, who decides to take his own wife and kids on a road trip to Wally World before it closes forever. Chase is expected to reprise his role as Clark Griswold, now a grandfather.
So as you see, this is not a reboot but rather a retelling or the starting of a new chapter in the Vacation franchise. If you are keeping the same characters and a few of the original actors will be returning to reprise their roles, that is not a reboot.
Regardless, I look forward to the film as I am a huge fan of the series. It will be interesting to see the new Griswold’s head back to Wally World one last time.
