Glee and American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy (Eat Pray Love) is continuing his on-screen success with the upcoming production of a musical comedy called One Hit Wonders, which is currently in development to star Gwyneth Paltrow (Country Strong), Reese Witherspoon (This Means War), Cameron Diaz (Bad Teacher), and Beyonce Knowles (Dreamgirls). Also, according to Deadline, Saturday Night Live’s Andy Samberg is also attached to star and lend his Lonely Island team to help create the film’s music.
The movie will supposedly follow ‘one hit wonder’ pop stars from the 1990s, Paltrow, Witherspoon, and Diaz who form a super group in order to have major career comebacks. It is unclear at this time what roles Knowles or Samberg will have in the film.
Murphy will be co-writing and directing the feature which also include Glee writers Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan. Right now, Murphy is working on an adaptation of the Broadway hit, The Normal Heart for the big screen with Julia Roberts, Mark Ruffalo, Jim Parsons, and Alec Baldwin, and will begin work on One Hit Wonders after production is complete.
What do you think about Paltrow, Diaz, and Witherspoon make for a believable on-screen tri of singers? Are you looking forward to seeing new mom Beyonce back on the big screen?
