Though it was put on hold after disaster struck Japan, Takeshi Kitano’s highly anticipated sequel to his fantastic Yakuza film Outrage finally has released details on the production.
The new film is titled Outrage Beyond and is currently in production in Japan. While much of the cast was killed off in the first film, Tomokazu Miura, Hideo Nakano, Ryo Kase, and Fumiyo Kohinata are set to return along side the director, writer, and editor, Takeshi Kitano, which is a pretty big surprise.
“In the sequel, Otomo is released and finds himself caught in the middle of a feud between yakuza factions in eastern and western Japan and a police crackdown on organized crime.”
Outrage was Kitano’s second most successful film to date and, because of that, Warner Bros will be releasing his film on over 200 screens on October 6, 2012, his biggest release yet.
All I ask is that someone pick up the film immediately because I want to see it by December. Magnolia has the rights to the original so hopefully they do the smart thing and snag up the sequel and release it in a timely manner.
If you’re curious as to how good the first film was you can read my review here.
I apologize for getting this up late as it’s news that I had schedule two weeks ago.
