Well that didn’t take long. With production just getting underway on Shane Black‘s Iron Man 3, we already have our first set of spy photos and our first huge spoiler alert.
Since there has really only been casting news and not a whole lot of storyline news, this is a very surprising character that is revealed in the below photos and no it doesn’t have anything to do with Robert Downey Jr., Gweneth Paltrow, Jon Favreau or any other returning cast members. These photos have to deal with a villain that has just recently been casted.

There were rumors going around the net today about a new armor appearing in Iron Man 3, which should come as no surprise. Earlier today, Comingsoon.net reported that the Iron Patriot would appear in the film and like many, I didn’t believe it when I heard it/read it.
The Iron Patriot is a strange character because it was a mix between Captain America and Iron Man, however the suit was originally worn and created by Norman Osborn (Spider-Man Villain) in the Dark Avengers comic series. It was a way to boost moral after the death of Captain America in the comic, however it was sort of mocked by Tony Stark.
We now have visual proof, thanks to The Superficial, that Iron Patriot is indeed a part of Iron Man 3 and here are the spy photos as evidence.
Now some might be very confused as to how Norman Osborn can be in an Iron Man film when Sony owns the rights to that character. It seems that Osborn is going to be replaced by Eric Savin, which we know is the villain role James Badge Dale was signed on for.
I’m sure as more information hits about the film, more and more people will be confused and think that Captain America has a suit kind of like how Spider-Man has the Iron-Spider in the comics, but no such luck. Could you imagine Cap trying to figure out how to use that suit? It would make for some great comedy scenes but no such luck.
I also want to mention that LatinoReview has made a claim that this is not the only new suit in the film and also they think the suit is actual Detroit Steel rather then Iron Patriot. While I never personally cared for the Detroit SteelCorp story line, it’s an interesting theory. Then again, this could just be War Machine with a cool paint job for a USO show.
