We have been hearing a ton of casting announcements recently pertaining to Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall. We know that Aaron Johnson and Christopher Mintz-Plasse will be returning along with Chloe Moretz and Nicolas Cage. Not to mention the new comers which include director Jeff Wadlow and stars John Leguizamo, Robert Emms, Donald Faison, and now possibly Jim Carrey? This should be interesting.
Deadline reported that it’s still early in the process but Universal has been tossing the idea around to sign Jim Carrey for the role of The Colonel. The Colonel, in the comics, created by Mark Miller and John Romita Jr., is a former employee of the crime boss John Genovese. He finds religion and decides to leave behind his life of crime to start a superhero team called Justice Forever which includes Kick-Ass, Insect Man and Doctor Gravity, along with several other heroes.
There is really no telling if Carrey will accept the role or not, but we do know that he is a huge fan of the comic series and the first film so at least Universal has that going for them. Having never read the comics, I’m not really sure what the Colonel looks like or what his characteristics are, but if you can get Carrey and Cage in the same film, I’m sold! I know some are probably wondering how Cage would be reprising his role as Big Daddy and I’m right there with you. I can only imagine he will be used for flashback memories of Hit Girl.
After Carrey’s recent films, I don’t think he is in much of a position to be picking and choosing his films, plus this one should be a guaranteed hit which he could really use at this point in his career.
If you have read the comic, we would love to hear your opinions on Carrey possibly being casted as The Colonel and if he will fit the role or not! Comment below
