Academy Award winner Charlize Theron (Snow White & the Huntsman) has been jumping genres lately with Young Adult and Prometheus, however it’s rumored that the talented South African is attached to produce a biopic about American war correspondent Marie Colvin who was killed while covering the Syrian war last year.
Additional producers include Basil Iwanyk and Peter Lawson who have options for the rights to Vanity Fair’s ‘Marie Colvin’s Private War’ by Marie Brenner to make the film. Cinemablend reports that Colvin’s battle to report in Sri Lanka didn’t end when she lost an eye in 2001, as she continued with personal struggles as well which include three marriages and suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
Colvin died at 56, having reported for the British paper The Sunday Times, and covered stories including conflicts in Kosovo, Chechnya, and the Syrian uprising.
There is no word yet on who will pen the script, which may be why Theron has not attached herself to star in the dramatic role. Of course with films like Monster, North Country, and The Cider House Rules under her belt, Theron is perfectly fit for the part.
Are you interested in hearing more about Theron’s involvement in this biopic? Do you agree that she can handle taking on such a heavy duty role?
