If you are just now recovering from the last Hangover, then get ready because production on the third and supposedly final film in the franchise is underway. Warner Bros. announced that principal photography has begun and that things will be a bit different for the wolf pack this go around.
Todd Phillips is back to direct the successful comedy franchise which features Ed Helms, Bradley Cooper, Justin Bartha and Zach Galifianakis, but if fans of the franchise are expecting a wedding or a bachelor party or something similar to the prior two, then you are in for a rude awakening. Its been no secret that Phillips wanted to go a different route with the third film. When the second film came out and questions began popping up about a third, Phillips said that this formula has run it course and that if he did a third film it would be completely different than the wake up and not remember what happened situation.
Well to sort of feed off of those comments, Warner Bros. also release a new synopsis for The Hangover 3 which gives us a bit of insight into what Phillips meant regarding a different feel.
This time, there’s no wedding. No bachelor party. What could go wrong, right? But when the Wolf pack hits the road, all bets are off.
When the film was announced last year, there were rumors that the film might focus on the guys trying to break Alan (Zach Galifianakis) out of a mental hospital, why or how he is there remains the million dollar question, but this new synopsis seems like it could be a solid possibility. Also there was also a rumor going around that a member of the wolf pack might be killed off, highly unlikely but I guess anything is possible with these films.
Also returning for one last go are Ken Jeong, Heather Graham, Mike Tyson and Jeffrey Tambor. It’s nice to see that familiar characters will be returning for the third film as these small but pivotal rolls are some of the more memorable ones from the prior two films. Also John Goodman will be the new comer to the franchise and is supposed to be the “bad guy” in the film. Maybe he will play a warden or director of the mental hospital and chases after the gang once the breakout occurs.
The Hangover 3 is set for theaters May 24, 2013.
