One of my favorite movies that I watched as a child on a regular basis was Steven Brill’s Heavweights though, I didn’t know it was Steven Brill’s film at the time. In my head it was the hilarious fat camp movie that had Lars and the big guy from The Mighty Ducks in it. I later realized it also starred Ben Stiller in one of my favorite roles of his to date.
Today, I just discovered that it was co-written by Judd Apatow! Who the hell would have thought the guy responsible for The Hangover played a major part in an awesome children’s movie that I miss a lot. But, as I digress, that’s not all I discovered today. I also found out that Disney will be bringing the beloved film to blu-ray on December 11th and it actually comes with bonus features (and the crowd goes wild!)!!!!!!! Yes, I’m excited and if you were a child that watched The Disney Channel in the 90s you would be too.
All the information on the upcoming release can be found below and be sure to yell BUDDY! when you buy your copy and need a friend to watch it with you.
