Today, Disney sent out their updated release schedule email which advises of any new changes to their upcoming project release dates or title changes. For the most part it was nothing new or exciting until the very end of the email, that’s when we struck gold!
Disney announced that Marvel’s Ant-Man will be released November 5,2015! What does this mean exactly? Well it means that the film has been green lit and seems to be the first film in the potential “Phase Three” aspect of the Marvel Universe. The film will come out about 6 months after The Avengers 2 which is pretty interesting considering many were hoping to fit the film in 2014 and make Ant-Man a crucial part in Avengers 2.
That being said, there is still possibilities that Ant-Man will appear in other Marvel films but as more of a side character with not a lot of info going into his background. It will be interesting to see how Marvel approaches the character and how he could factor into events before the stand alone film. It didn’t mention a cast or directors, however it’s safe to say Edgar Wright will be directing the film.
Also in the release, both Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World will be in 3D. The interesting thing was that Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy were also mentioned in the release however there was no mention of 3D for those films. Maybe it is too early since those wont be coming to theaters until 2014, however it was a bit strange to not see all of them get the 3D treatment. If I was a betting man though, it’s safe to say they will be in 3D unless the trend dies off before then (Fingers Crossed)
