With the holidays about to swing into full force, it seems only fitting that we start seeing trailers for films that will be sure to satisfy families this holiday season. One film out the holiday gates will be the family comedy, Parental Guidance, which stars Billy Crystal and Bette Midler. Parental Guidance seems to switch things up a bit from the usually family antics with the mom and dad and a bunch of crazy kids. This time lets take out the parents and switch them with grandparents!
Crystal and Midler play the grandparents who are called upon to watch the grandchildren when their parents (Tom Everett Scott and Marisa Tomei) are forced to go out of town for the weekend due to work. Chaos ensues and the grandparents are forced to try and maintain order with this younger generation of practical jokers and hooligans. Today we have a trailer for the film which basically shows exactly what you would expect from a film like this. Nothing like a good baseball bat to the family jewels to sell tickets!
Old school grandfather Artie, who is accustomed to calling the shots, meets his match when he and his eager-to-please wife Diane agree to babysit their three grandkids when their type-A helicopter parents go away for work. But when 21st century problems collide with Artie and Diane’s old school methods of tough rules, lots of love and old-fashioned games, it’s learning to bend – and not holding your ground – that binds a family together.
As you can see from the trailer the film looks to be a fun time for everyone in the family. There is something for everyone, yet it is strange to think that Billy Crystal is now old enough to play a grandparent! The film opens Christmas Day.
