I recently posted my review about the Sundance horror hit V/H/S and found the film to be a little underwhelming for what I was expecting, but apparently enough people liked it and has done well enough because the producers of the original have decided to forge ahead with the anthology sequel titled S-VHS featuring a new bunch of directors creating their own vision of a nightmare caught on tape.
The new batch of up-and-coming directors include The Raid: Redemption helmer Gareth Evans co-directing with Timo Tjahjanto (Macabre), Eduardo Sanchez of The Blair Witch Project co-directing with his producer Greg Hale, and Jason Eisener (Hobo With A Shotgun), Adam Wingard (You’re Next; V/H/S) and writer Simon Barrett (he wrote Adam Wingard’s films and will be making his directorial debut) each directing their own segments.
Below is the first still from the film which comes from the Gareth Evans/Timo Tjahjanto segment. It looks like a guy enjoying his bloodbath and laughing about it after being shot a few times by the guy holding the camera and possible shotgun.
S-VHS is set to shoot in L.A., Maryland, Nova Scotia, British Columbia and Indonesia and will follow a similar structure as the original, only this time two investogators find a tape while looking for a missing student.
Does anyone smell a new franchise in the works?
