Today we have the full length trailer, that many will see during the Hobbit this weekend, for Zach Snyder‘s Man of Steel. The film features Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Amy Adams,Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Russell Crowe, Antje Traue, Christopher Meloni and Ayelet Zurer.
Snyder promised earlier last week, that we would see a crazy trailer for Man of Steel and the man delivered. Maybe not so much on the crazy aspect, but the trailer has more action in it than the entire Superman Returns film, so that’s a positive right there. The trailer is much like the one that was shown during SDCC this year with a few more scenes that feature the “alien” aspect of film. We also see a different version of Jonathan Kent than we are use to. Check out the trailer below.
Probably the biggest complaint I can see from the trailer is that people don’t need a retelling of Superman, learn more about his childhood or how he became the man he is today. Now the trailer does focus quite a bit on these aspects but I don’t think this will take up too much of film’s time, as long as they keep it under 20-30 minutes we should be fine. That being said, the film is much darker and has a more somber tone than the prior films and from the looks of the trailer, we will actually have fighting and action scenes! While the clips of Michael Shannon or quick and we don’t see much of his character, it does seem that he comes to Earth with some alien tech in hopes of destroying Superman and ruling Earth.
So far from the multiple trailers and interviews with cast and crew, it seems like Warner Bros. and DC are finally on the right track and might be able to give Marvel a run for their money next summer. If this is any indication of what we can expect for the future of the DC brand, then maybe Justice League stands a chance after all.
