One film that’s slowly been making its way down the famous Studio Ghibli pipeline is Miyazaki Hayao’s The Wind Rises (Kaze Tachinu). The film is based on a manga of the same name and is about Horikoshi Jiro, the individual who designed the Mitsubishi A6M Zero fighter plane famously used by Japan during WWII. Miyazaki has brought on Hisaishi Jo, a frequent collaborator of his, to score the film. Though we knew it was coming the film has finally been officially announced and will release later in 2013.
Below is the first poster for the animated feature and though it doesn’t give us much it at least shows us that there’s still one studio left making hand drawn features.
