There hasn’t been much said about the previously announced film in the Die Hard franchise except that its likely title is Die Hard 24/7, that Skip Woods (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The A-Team) has finished the first draft of the script, and that Bruce Willis was aboard for the sequel. Although Willis has previously mentioned that the film is aiming for a 2012 release, we haven’t heard much about the next John McClane adventure lately. However, according to London Insider, we might be seeing a villain that has connections to two prior Die Hard baddies. Curious? Check out the rumor after the jump!
As you all remember, McClane was first vexed by Hans Gruber (played masterfully by Alan Rickman) in the original Die Hard, only to face vengeful brother Simon Gruber (Jeremy Irons) in the second sequel, Die Hard: With a Vengeance. According to the source, McClane may find himself facing a third Gruber sibling in Die Hard 24/7 — although certainly a child of Hans or Simon could be going after McClane in a “You killed my father, prepare to die” scenario. This would certainly give some consistency to the series — all the “odd numbered” films feature a Gruber — although I’d certainly understand people groaning about what is seemingly a rehash of the plot of Die Hard: With a Vengeance.
But how do you see it? Ready for more international terrorists, or are you against the idea of a fifth Die Hard? Give us your take in the comments below!
