Get ready for the onslaught of SXSW related news because after Thursday’s announcement dropped, you’re bound to see tons of stills, posters and trailer for films premiering at the Austin based festival. As such, shortly after the line-up dropped, I received an email about a movie called SNAP and the release of the first still from the film. Initially I was going to shrug it off as the still isn’t that interesting but when I read the synopsis for the film I knew I was going to make it a point to see the film at the festival.
The film, directed by Youssef Delara and Victor Teran, stars Jake Hoffman, Nikki Reed, Thomas Dekker, Scott Bakula, and Jason Priestley in a dubstep thriller that will likely involve some club related deaths. Take a look at the official still and synopsis below and then read my thoughts after.
A stylish psychological thriller set against the underground dub step DJ scene that takes the audience on a dark and terrifying journey into the depths of the psychopathic mind as it threatens to explode into horrific violence.
The still doesn’t show much but I think it’s a dream-like psychological scene from the film, at least I hope it is. Why would someone be yelling at a guy on an empty street in the middle of the day if it’s a movie about crazy shit going down at night? I’m also imagining the film playing like the opposite of all the dubstep satires we’ve seen like on shows Keel & Peel. If there isn’t a crazy, slow motion dubstep drug induced scene in this movie, I’m going to be pretty upset but for now this is what we have and can only hope for. One thing is for sure, this movie was made for the EDM crowd and those that attend festivals like E-Zoo and EDC (which I do) so keep this one on your radar if you’re into that stuff.
