Yesterday I attended the NY premiere of Dinner for Schmucks starring Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, and Zach Galifianakis. I had low expectations going into the film and thought it was going to be a piece of crap but instead I found it to be delightfully entertaining. Yes it was stupid and a bit mindless, but it was quite funny from start to finish and I wound up being impressed with some of the details of the film. Check out my review after the jump.
I tried to keep this video review short so I am throwing some other details at you right now. One of my favorite characters in the film was Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Concords) as the philisophical and possible fan of beastiality artist, Kieran. At the time I didn’t realize who it was but he was as ridiculous in this film as he is on stage except here he had long, elegant hair to match his philisophical and muscular physique.
Additionally, I have to point out that Stephanie Szostak was very cute, do I dare say even beautiful? This was the consensus amongst the men and women I attended the premiere with. I wish I saw her in other films because I would love to watch her again even though she is probably in films I would never watch on my own free will.
Other than those two points I think the review speaks for itself. Dinner for Schmucks surprised me with its predictable humor but I think the trailer is going to be the reason why many people may opt out of seeing it. Either way check out my review below for real details about the film.
