In case you were like me and watching Game of Thrones instead of the MTV Movie Awards this weekend you probably missed out on some big trailers that were debuted during the show. The only one of any significance that aired was the premiere of the trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, the second film of four based on The Hunger Games trilogy (they pulled a Twilight and split the last book into two parts). As a fan of the book but not so much the first film, this trailer does a pretty good job of hiding what this film’s story will be about which is great for those who haven’t read it.
The cast for the sequel is even more impressive than the first. Practically all the people from the first film are back including Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Lenny Kravitz, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Toby Jones, Willow Shields but quality new cast members like Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Sam Claflin, Jena Malone, Lynn Cohen, Meta Golding, Amanda Plummer and Jeffrey Wright round out the new roles.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, directed by Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend), will hit theaters on November 11th. Will the box office odds be ever in its favor this time around? You can check out the long teaser trailer below and decide for yourself.
THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.
THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE is directed by Francis Lawrence, and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the second in a trilogy that has over 50 million copies in print in the U.S. alone. THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE opens on November 22, 2013.
