This week there has been a lot of really cool art making its way onto the net and so I thought it would be nice to put a little something together for you all to geek out on as you get ready for the 4th of July.
As already mentioned in past articles, my excitement for Pacific Rim somehow manages to keep growing and when you take that and mash it with my love of pop culture art you get an orgasm of epic proportions. This past week Blurppy.com unveiled their third Poster Posse Project, which was for Pacific Rim, and a ton of artists came out to show their support for the film with a bunch of awesome and clever fan art (that unfortunately we cannot purchase). I’ve included three of my favorites below from artists Matt Ferguson, Doaly and Marie Bergeron but there are a ton of other sweet pieces over at their site. The link above will take you to the page with the reveal.
Also, it seems as if Mondo may have previewed two pieces by Kevin Tong and Vania Zouravliov through viral marketing that WB had sent out to top bloggers (I’m still waiting for mine) and what’s likely to happen is that they get sold at San Diego Comic Con, thankfully I’m not crazy about either but I will say Vania’s looks cooler the more I look at it and I’m curious to see the final product. Check them out below.
And lastly we’ve got some new horror art from Timothy Pittides, a talented artist whose work you’ve seen on this site before when we previewed past Bottleneck Gallery shows, specifically the Jaws print he made for their amazing glow in the dark show.
Tim, in collaboration with Frightfest Originals, was able to snag the license to create two prints for Peter Jackson’s Braindead. The top is the original version and the variant follows. The print goes on sale tomorrow and you can view all the details underneath the variant image.
This print is 18” x 24” 3 color screenprint with a edition size of 50. Price is 25 GBP ($38.00) with shipping to the United States only 15 GBP (22.00). They will also be releasing a GLOW IN THE DARK variant edition with a print run of 25. Price is 30 GBP ($45.00).
You can try and snag one of these babies on July 4th starting at 4pm UK time on the Frightfest Originals website.
