This past Thursday, Bryan Singer, director of X-Men: Days of Future Past dropped a bomb on the geek cinema world. While we’re still months out from seeing his sequel to Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class, Singer took to twitter to announce the sequel to his upcoming film, titled X-Men: Apocalypse.
Yeah, soak that in. I’ve never read the comments but I’ve seen the characters name before but, let’s be honest, any villain that has a name like that and looks like the above basically means the X-Men are going to be in the fight of their lives, kind of like when The Avengers take on Thanos. In fact, Apocalypse has such an insane amount of power that he’s probably stronger than Superman because he can do well more than just fly, shoot lasers out of his eyes and stop a speeding bullet.
Fox confirmed that the date of release will be May 27, 2016 and with Days of Future Past being such a mammoth project, we can only imagine that X-Men: Apocalypse is going to attempt to make all other superhero films look small in comparison to what they likely have up their sleeves for this one.
Stay tuned for more information because I don’t plan on speculating on the plot at this point in time and with the announcement of this sequel you know Singer will let us know things when he’s well and ready.
