Speculation has been brewing for weeks now about Edgar Wright‘s and Marvel’s upcoming Ant-Man movie. The first name to be thrown out there was the very popular Joseph Gordon-Levitt – who looked like a shoe-in for the role. Now it seems Marvel is going in a different direction, and that direction has been confirmed as Paul Rudd.
Ant-Man – who will get his own film on top of the likelyhood of starring in a future Avengers movie (although we’re told not The Avengers: Age of Ultron) – is one of the lesser ‘larger than life’ Superheroes known on the Marvel pages and has never been featured on the big (or small) screen.
Rudd, who has played the game perfectly over the past few weeks denying any links to the Ant-Man role will bring this unique Superhero – who’s powers include the ability to change in size and communicate with insects. Rudd may be seen as a questionable choice, but he isn’t a stranger to the more serious role, but will still manage to bring a strong comic edge to the character and franchise.
Ant-Man is scheduled for a 2015 release date and will be directed by British filmmaker Edgar Wright.
