This week seems to be the week of finalizing major casting decisions, this time it’s Paramount who has finally made a big decision, casting Kyle Reese for their Alan Taylor directed Terminator reboot, titled Terminator: Genesis. The casting had come down to two candidates, Jai Courtney (A Good Day to Die Hard) and Boyd Holbrook (Milk), and, according to Variety, Jai Courtney has officially won the role.
Courtney rounds out the cast and will be taking over the role that Michael Biehn held in the original Terminator film and that Anton Yelchin played in Terminator Salvation. He will be joining Emelia Clarke, who will be playing Sarah Connor, and Jason Clarke, who is set to play John Connor, while Arnold returns to play the bad-ass he made famous.
I love the Terminator franchise but I’m not sold on the idea of another one, especially with this cast. There is no word yet on the plot details but we’ll find out soon enough and maybe that will help convince me that the film will be interesting.
What are your thoughts on the casting decisions?
