If you ask me, March is always kind of a slow month for the film industry. The Oscars are over and it seems Hollywood takes a month or two off before jumping into the action packed summer releases we all sit and wait nine months for. So, what is one to do with all the limited releases? Well, if you are like me, you search for something that is original and a bit out of the box. And, although the trailer leaves me wondering how ‘out of the box’ John Doe: Vigilante will be…it definitely seems quite original in it’s own genre.
Starring Jamie Bamber (Battlestar Galactica), John Doe: Vigilante takes on the role of following a modern day hero, whose family has been victim to a multiple offender’s crime. In order to punish these criminals (who seem to find a way out of the legal system without punishment), John Doe takes matters into his own hands. The trailer peaks my interest: What if we all played the role of John Doe and took matters into our own hands against crime. However, as a 25+ year old female, I’m wondering if this movie had my demographic in it’s eyesight. I enjoy a good revenge film, but I’m also wondering how far this movie will push the message.
Take a look at the trailer and check out my movie review and interview with star Jamie Bamber coming soon!
Plot: Some call him a hero. Some call him a villain. He’s John Doe: Vigilante – an ordinary man who decides to take the law into his own hands. Frustrated with a failing legal system that continues to allow violent criminals to go free, John Doe begins exacting justice the only way he knows how – by killing one criminal at a time. Soon he becomes a media sensation and inspires a group of copycat vigilantes, but who is the real John Doe – a pillar of justice or a cold-blooded murderer? You decide.
