One of my favorite gallery shows that I attended last year was Bottleneck Gallery’s When the Lights Go Out, a glow in the dark art exhibit featuring some of the best names in the pop-art world experimenting or having fun with GID ink. It was crowded, sweaty, dark and a whole lotta fun. I still have some of my prints hanging in my room, two of which I got custom frames for, and am really excited about attending the sequel, titled When the Lights Go Out 2, this Saturday, March 22nd when their doors open at 7pm in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
This year features roughly 80 artists including the likes of Tim Pittides, Mark Englert, Brad Hill, Kyle Crawford, Filippo Morini, Raid71, Bruce Yan, Matthew Skiff, Matt Ryan, Chris Garofolo, Blunt Graffix, and a slew of other talented folks tackling a variety of subjects from music, video games, movies, graphic novels and the just some good ol’ fashioned original art. Make sure to check out Nate Bear’s Tossed Salad piece, it’s hilarious and sure to make the pervert in you smile.
Over the past few months a handful of pieces have been teased and previewed via various online sources. I have decided to compile whatever has been released as a temporary guide until the full show is made available online and the doors to the exhibit open, unveiling the rest of what the gallery has in store for us. Note: Rumor has it that the Godmachine piece has been postponed and will be released at a later time but I’m posting it below anyway because it’s so damn awesome. Florey’s piece is complete but also won’t be apart of the show apparently.
Check out the pieces below. Oh, and if you can’t make the show, fear not, there will be an online pre-sale on Friday at 12pm EST on Bottleneck’s website where you can battle for your chance at owning some of these great prints.
Now without further ado, here are some previews:
