The question has been on everyone’s lips. It’s the remake we’ve all been waiting for. Well wait no longer my friends, it’s finally here. Hollywood has announced its plans to remake, uh…Cliffhanger.
Yeah, that’s right. The 90’s classic starring Sly Stallone with his cords and slings is set for a revamp sometime in the future. Details are sketchy seeing as there is no script…or actors attached, but it’s happening alright! Fast and Furious producer Neal Moritz is set to be at the helm of the reboot and has enlisted screenwriter Joe Gazzam to work on the script.
I must have been sleeping during the recent surge in popularity of mountain climbing? Perhaps there’s a prediction that it’s about to hit an all-time high? Perhaps someone just really loves that film and thought “Hey, we’ve got nothing better to do”?
No word from Sylvester Stallone (who starred and co-wrote the action-packed original) on how he feels about the news, but we’ve got a sneaky feeling he’ll be alright with it. Not to take anything away from the orignal, which is a memorable fun film in it’s own right. There just doesn’t feel like a big demand for this remake, but then again, rather this which could be made to look quite cool with the 3D technology than an absolute classic which could be butchered.
What do you think? Could there be a more unnecessary remake?
