According to a recent press release from Disney, the studio that has brought all of our favorite childhood adventures into our lives is bringing back one of their most beloved characters, Winnie the Pooh, in a new film. For a synopsis and first look at some of these classic images, hit the jump!
It’s been thirty-five years since we’ve seen Pooh and the gang living it up in the Hundred Acre Wood on the big screen. You can count on Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Kanga, Roo, Eyore, Owl, and Christopher Robin to return in the story that is centered around “a wild quest to save Christopher Robin from an imaginary culprit. It turns out to be a very busy day for a bear who simply set out to find some ‘hunny.’”
What’s also exciting is to see late-late night’s Craig Ferguson’s return, voicing the Owl, since his big hit with last year’s How to Train Your Dragon, as well as John Cleese (Monty Python and the Holy Grail) lending his voice as narrator. Additional voices include veterans Jim Cummings, who is responsible for Pooh and Tigger, and also Tom Kenney who will voice the Rabbit. Not to mention that this movie returns to the hand-drawn animation that we all grew up with!
The film is set for a July 15 release, which means that all you parents out there reading this will have to schedule your summer vacation with your kids during another weekend.
Take a look at the official trailer which is as charming as ever, featuring Keane’s “Somewhere Only We Know.”
