Way! This one firmly goes in the “don’t hold your breath” category, but in a recent interview with MTV, Keanu Reeves spoke about his desire to make a third film featuring him as Theodore “Ted” Logan and Alex Winter as Bill S. Preston, Esq. — better known to those who grew up in the late 80s/early 90s as Bill and Ted.
Though Reeves and Winter have both expressed interest in a third film numerous times in the past, the 2008 death of George Carlin (who played the boys’ time traveling mentor Rufus in both films) seemed to put a stop to the chances of a third film. Not so! According to Reeves, not only are him and Winter on board, but so are Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, who wrote the first two films. It’ll be hard to imagine where the film would take the duo — they’ve already done everything from traveling through time, visiting both heaven and hell, and bringing about world peace through their cover of a KISS song (no, really), but from Reeves’ words it sounds like the four won’t do it unless they do come up with a good concept for it. Let’s hope they do — Reeves has been suppressing his comedic side over the last decade, and it would be nice to see what him and Winter could do with the misadventures of an over-the-hill rock duo.
