Something Borrowed looks to be a movie that chick-flick fans everywhere can add to the long list of best wedding rom-coms. By best, I mean a movie that you can watch over and over again with your favorite gal pals, just to talk about how gorgeous Kate Hudson looks in that Vera Wang Lukdress in Bride Wars or why we all wish Rupert Everett’s character in My Best Friend’s Wedding was really our best gay friend in real life. However, we see that Hudson has returned to the genre that brought her to fame with How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, alongside the very adorable Ginnifer Goodwin (Big Love) in this movie set for release on May 6th.
According to IMDB, “Friendships are tested and secrets come to the surface when terminally single Rachel (Goodwin) falls for Dex (Colin Egglesfield), her best friend Darcy’s (Hudson) fiancé.” The cast also includes The Office’s John Krasinski, Steve Howey (Shameless), and former child soap star Ashley Williams (As The World Turns). Some might recognize Egglesfield from the short-lived CW series Melrose Place, as well as daytime’s All My Children.
Something Borrowed is directed by Luke Greenfield (The Girl Next Door) and is based on the novel of the same name by Emily Griffin. The screenplay was adapted by TV writer Jennie Snyder (Gilmore Girls, 90210).
Check out the trailer below, which is sure to be fun for a girl‘s night at the movies. It’s a light comedy that will recall all the reasons why Goodwin is a must-see actress, especially after her stint in He’s Just Not That Into You and her upcoming role as a small screen Snow White in Once Upon A Time. Perhaps this can even bring back that charming spark Hudson had that has since fizzled after The Killer Inside Me and Nine failed to please critics.
