Johnny Depp will make a cameo appearance in ’21 Jump Street’

Over the past few months we have been updating everyone on the casting for Jonah Hill‘s remake of the hit TV series, 21 Jump Street. So far the cast is as follows: Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill, Brie Larson, Ice Cube, Jake Johnson, Rob Riggle, Dave Franco and DeRay Davis. Well, after much speculation and rumors we can finally add Johnny Depp to the list as well but he will not be a major player in the film.  

Comingsoon.net has received word from an unnamed sourced that Johnny, will in fact, be making a brief appearance in the upcoming film. Hill had previously said that he had written a “really funny” role for Johnny if he was interested in joining on.

The film is being directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and shooting is already underway with an expected release date of March 16, 2012.

Based on the Fox series that ran from 1987 to 1991, the movie will center on two young looking undercover cops (Hill and Tatum), who are assigned to work in schools. Cube is playing the police chief and Larson is the female lead with Franco and Riggle as the film’s villains.
