If back in 2004 you would have told me that after watching Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, these guys would end up doing a Christmas film, I would have said you must be smoking the stuff they were in the film. Well the time has come and A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas is gearing up for it’s November 4th release this year and Yahoo! has provided us with a first look of Harold (John Cho), Kumar (Kal Penn) and Neil Patrick Harris.
Here is a brief synopsis of what you can expect from the film. You be the judge if it sounds like an instant Christmas classic or another box office bomb.
After years of growing apart, Harold Lee and Kumar Patel have replaced each other with new friends and are preparing for their respective Yuletide celebrations. But when a mysterious package mistakenly arrives at Kumar’s door on Christmas Eve, his attempt to redirect it to Harold’s house ends with the “high grade” contents — and Harold’s father-in-law’s prize Christmas tree — going up in smoke. With his in-laws out of the house for the day, Harold decides to cover his tracks, rather than come clean. Reluctantly embarking on another ill-advised journey with Kumar through New York City, their search for the perfect replacement tree takes them through party heaven — and almost blows Christmas Eve sky high.
The first film was amazing, I laughed my ass off and have probably seen it over a dozen times, it was fresh, original and really brought something new to the table. The second film, Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay was funny at times but I felt it really missed the mark and that they tried too hard with the film. After reading the synopsis for the latest film, I don’t have much hope for it and really need a strong, solid trailer to sell me on seeing this film.
